About Thuto SACCOS

Thuto SACCOS is a member-owned Savings and Credit Cooperative Society committed to providing innovative, sustainable, and affordable financial solutions to its members. The Society is seeking to appoint a dynamic, visionary, and results-oriented leader to serve as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), on a 3-5 years fixed term contract.


Main Purpose of the Position

Reporting directly to the Management Board, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for providing strategic leadership and overall management of the Society. The CEO will lead the development and execution of the Society's long-term strategy, drive sustainable growth and financial performance, ensure operational excellence, and promote sound corporate governance while safeguarding members' interests. CEO will lead the digital transformation strategy.


Key Responsibilities


The successful candidate will be responsible for:


Strategic Leadership

  • -- Develop and implement the Society's strategic plan in line with its mission, vision, and objectives.
  • -- Advise the Management Board on strategic matters and drive sustainable growth.
  • -- Provide visionary leadership and make sound strategic decisions to ensure long-term success.


Operational Management

  • -- Provide overall leadership and oversight of the Society's operations.
  • -- Ensure effective implementation of policies, programmes, and operational plans.
  • -- Monitor organisational performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.


Financial Management

  • -- Ensure sound financial management, budgeting, and prudent use of resources.
  • -- Monitor the Society's financial performance and sustainability.
  • -- Ensure robust financial controls, reporting, and compliance with audit requirements.


Stakeholder Relations

  • -- Represent the Society in engagements with members, regulators, financial institutions, business partners, and other stakeholders.
  • -- Build and maintain strategic partnerships that advance the Society's objectives.
  • -- Promote the Society's image and oversee Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.


Board Relations

  • -- Serve as the principal link between Management and the Board.
  • -- Provide regular reports on organisational performance, risks, and strategic initiatives.
  • -- Implement Board resolutions and provide professional advice to support informed decision-making.


Leadership and Talent Management

  • -- Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing management team.
  • -- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, integrity, and continuous improvement.
  • -- Develop succession plans and strengthen organisational capability.


Risk Management and Compliance

  • -- Ensure effective enterprise risk management and internal control systems.
  • -- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and cooperative governance requirements.
  • -- Promote ethical conduct and sound corporate governance practices.


Qualifications and Experience


Applicants should possess:

  • -- A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • -- A minimum of eight (8) years' senior management experience, preferably in the financial services sector, with experience as a Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, or equivalent executive leadership role.
  • -- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, organisational leadership, and business transformation.
  • -- Strong financial management and business acumen.
  • -- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • -- Proven ability to build strategic partnerships and manage stakeholder relationships.
  • -- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • -- High levels of integrity, professionalism, resilience, and ethical leadership.
  • -- Experience in the management or operations of a Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (SACCOS) or other cooperative financial institution will be an added advantage.
